From 2007 to 2013, he served as Argentina’s Vice Minister of Defense where he instituted pivotal reforms and modernization programs, expanded international defense cooperation to include 31 countries, and fortified Argentina’s role in UN peacekeeping initiatives. Prior to that, his diplomatic finesse was on display during his three-year tenure as Ambassador to Honduras. His negotiations and strategic trade policies catalyzed a nine-fold increase in Argentine exports to the nation, positioning Honduras as the foremost recipient of Argentine international cooperation.

His advisement to the Organization of American States on regional security and defense further solidified his reputation as a key strategist in international affairs.

Notably, Forti’s career has also been characterized by decisive crisis management. He was designated as a Special Envoy by the President of Argentina in critical negotiations with the governments of Ghana and Cuba, achieving successful resolutions in each instance.

On the human rights front, Forti is a distinguished activist in the broader Latin American truth and justice movement. His consultative roles have been pivotal for governments in the region such as Haiti, Peru and El Salvador, in setting up Truth Commissions to investigate historical human rights violations.
